Who We Are
As professionals with a diverse set of experiences in different firms across different industries, we experienced a diverse range of challenges, with many firms struggling with declining markets, economic downturns and most significantly, rapidly advancing technologies. In many cases, we noticed that firms with strong principles and fundamentals were able to weather the storm and emerge stronger.
As venture capitalists, we screened through hundreds of business plans and eagerly searched for firms whose solutions and products created value for their customers. Once again, amidst a sea of new technological offerings and marketing hype, it was the firms with strong business principles that often proved to be diamonds in the rough.
Iron Lotus was founded to combine our expertise gained as professionals and investors with our conviction in the value of solid business principles, to assist SMEs in redefining their business strategies and restructuring their business for further growth.
Our Founders
Iron Lotus was co-founded by Gail Shan and Jack Ng.

Gail’s strategic slant and diversity of experiences combine well with Jack’s familiarity with important, yet mundane, day-to-day details of firm operations. Together, they form a competent and well-balanced leadership team that understands the various challenges faced by firms in adapting to new technologies and economic realities.

With over 17 years of experience spanning fields such as sales, financial management, portfolio management and valuation, and industries as different as Oil and Gas and venture capital, Gail’s career path has been anything but orthodox. Her diverse experiences have shaped her broad, all-encompassing perspectives on business that have lent well to her most recent role as Portfolio Management Director at Iron Lotus. Her work assessing and assisting leading local firms in the construction industry with restructuring and technological implementation has only strengthened her beliefs in the principles of running a good business.

With over a decade of experience in risk management, corporate governance and operations management, Jack Ng is well-versed in the common pitfalls that firms face when executing well-meaning strategies. In his current role as Risk Management Director at Iron Lotus, his latest work in management consulting alongside Gail has seen him work alongside and train staff to address key issues. His deep exposure with the intricacies and minutiae of day-to-day operations has deepened his conviction that the principles of good businesses are vital even at the level of operations.
